Maxine W. Swett, 87, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of North Berwick Maine, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Nokomis, FL, on September 8, 2009.

She was born in North Berwick on June 10, 1922, the daughter of Everett & Dorris (Carter) White. She graduated from North Berwick High School in 1940.

On October 25th, 1941, she married H. Robert Swett, Jr., and together they owned and operated Swett Construction Company which contracted the installation of Hussey seating throughout the U.S. and foreign countries.

Maxine was the first female member of the Maine Carpenters' & Joiners of America Local Union. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of North Berwick and a past matron of Beacon Light Chapter #65 OES.

She and her husband moved to Boynton Beach in 1982. She was employed at The President Country Club in West Palm Beach for several years, and was an avid golfer throughout her life.

She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, Bob, of nearly 58 years in 1999, and one brother, Edward C. White in 1944. She was the cherished mother of four children, Gregory (Dorothy) Swett of Sanford, ME, Sheila (Peter) Litvinchyk of Nokomis, FL, Peter (Jacqueline) Swett of Alexandria, VA, and Elaine (Stephen) Brackett of Berwick, ME. She was the proud, loving grandmother of nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. She also leaves her friend and companion, Benjamin Bertram, of Boynton Beach.

A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home in North Berwick on Saturday, October 24th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407, or your local Hospice.
