Jane Collett Burnham, age 74, of Berwick, Maine, passed away on March 4, 2024. She was born on November 30, 1949 in Portland, ME and grew up in South Portland, ME. Jane married Robert Burnham on January 3, 1970. Together they spent 47 years in Newburyport, MA. In recent years, they moved to Berwick, ME. They were married for 54 years.
Jane was a kind and caring person who dedicated decades of her life to serving as a registered nurse. She began her nursing career at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, MA, where she worked for over 25 years. Her last 5 years of nursing were spent at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. Her compassion and care touched the lives of many.
She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Burnham, her daughter Jennifer Burnham, her son James Burnham, her granddaughter Astrid Burnham-Alouat, and her grandson Jacob Burnham. Jane is also survived by her brothers James Collett, Jerry Collett, Jack Collett, her sister Judy Pierce, her dog Daisey, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Lillian (Baker) and James Collett, her stepfather Arthur Baker, her brother-in-law Scott Pierce, her brother-in-law Vance Burnham, as well as many of her beloved dogs.
A service to honor Jane’s life will be held on Saturday, April 20th, at 1 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 26 Pleasant St. in Newburyport, MA.
A burial service will follow on Saturday, May 11th, at 11 am at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Meeting House Hill in South Portland, ME.
